A Note to Readers...

 I just wanted to send out a quick note to readers about this blog moving forward for the next few months. As August neared, it became increasingly difficult for me to devote as much time to writing for the blog and provide quality content to readers. I am a college student, and I was in the process of moving into a new apartment and starting classes at the end of summer.  

Going forward, I hope to find guest writers at least once every other month to continue to provide content. I am a political science major, so I have to put a lot of energy and focus into writing. Writing for the blog is something I love, however, I find that I lose focus and forget how to address this audience in a less formal, more conversational manner. 

Please, feel free to contact me if you are someone interested in contributing to the blog as I take a short sabbatical from providing content. And to those who have given me submissions for their interviews, I will be working on getting those edited and published as I find time over the weekends. I appreciate those who took the time to write those pieces for me, so I do owe those publications in the near future. 

I also plan for reshaping my focus of the blog to dedicating some more publications to Cardistry as I begin to learn more about the hobby.

I thank you all for keeping up with the blog, and reading the posts. I hope that once I've had some time to do more research and find more writers that this blog can be transformed into a useful resource for those who are new to the hobby.

I'm just a regular college student with a slight addiction to collecting as many playing cards as I possibly can. I am particularly drawn to cards with beautiful artwork and designs. I got my start collecting playing cards when I began picking up decks at gift shops when traveling. Six years later, now I find myself heavily invested in collecting and the community. I study Political Science with a minor in Legal Studies and a certificate in Russian and Eastern European Studies. I love doing research, especially on topics that I'm passionate about, so that's how I came to creating and writing for this blog.

A Quick History on Gilded Decks      Gilded decks are all the rage among the modern deck collector community, but few collectors nowadays know where and when gilded decks began.  What does "Gilded" actually mean?      The earliest known use of the word appears in 1540, meaning "covered or tinged with gold or a golden color" (source: Merriam-Webster), meaning gilded decks are ONLY those with gold edges. Silver, green, red, etc. would technically not qualify. That's the literal definition though.
